Lunda Construction Company, the Civil Group subsidiary of Tutor Perini Corporation, in a joint venture with Shafer Contracting, has secured a $116 million contract for I-35E Cayuga Bridge Project in St. Paul, Minnesota.

The contract has been awarded by the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT). Pursuant to the contract, the companies will update two urban interstate interchanges, add an additional interchange and reconstruct a two-mile segment of Interstate I-35E in St. Paul.

The scope of work involves construction of 11 new bridges, multiple retaining walls, utilities, grading, signing, and pavement along the corridor. The work on the project is anticipated to commence in January 2013 and is expected to be completed in October 2015.

The project forms a key infrastructure project in MnDOT’s Metro District, which is being developed to improve safety and operational concerns along the Interstate I-35E corridor.
