The Urban and Housing Development Department (UHDD) and Amata Asia (Myanmar) Limited signed a Joint Venture Agreement on the Yangon Amata Smart and Eco City project at Kempinski Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning.
The department and Yangon Amata Smart and Eco City Limited also signed a land lease agreement at the same signing ceremony. A clip of the smart city project’s future processes was first shown to the attendees, after which the Union Minister for Construction, U Han Zaw, delivered a speech.
The Union Minister said the Joint Venture between the housing department and Thai-based Amata Corporation on the project highlights a good area of cooperation between the two countries.
He said that as it will attract more foreign investments, it will boost the industrial, foreign export and human resources sectors of the nation, in addition to being a major source of assistance to socioeconomic development.
Next, Thai Ambassador Mrs. Suphatra Srimaitreephithak, Yangon Region Minister for Electricity, Industry and Transportation Daw Nilar Kyaw, and Amata Corporation Public Co Ltd Chairman Mr Vikrom Kromadit delivered separate addresses.
Afterwards, the Managing Director of Yangon Amata Smart and Eco City Limited, Mr Yasuo Tsutsui, explained about the details of the project.
Following this, UHDD Director-General U Min Htein, Deputy Director-General Daw Mi Mi Tin and Amata Asia (Myanmar) Limited Director Mr Aukkares Choochouy and Ms Dendao Komolmas signed the Joint Venture agreement between the UHDD and Amata Asia (Myanmar) Limited in the presence of Union Minister U Han Zaw.
Likewise, U Min Htein and Daw Mi Mi Tin signed the land lease agreement with Yangon Amata Smart and Eco City Limited with its Managing Director Mr Yasuo Tsutsui and Amata Corporation Public Company Limited’s Chief Investment Officer Ms Ng Choon Soon.
After this, officials from Yangon Amata Smart and Eco City Limited and companies signed framework agreements related to the project. Present at the signing ceremony were Deputy Minister U Kyaw Lin, Hluttaw representatives, permanent secretaries, directors-general, department officials, company representatives and officials from Amata Corporation Public Company Limited.
Yangon Amata Smart and Eco City will be built on 2,000 acres of land near Laydauntkan Village between Dagon Myothit (East) and Dagon Myothit (South) townships, Yangon Region, and will create up to 33,000 jobs
