Building on an existing four-year relationship, Arup and Pollinate Energy are pleased to announce that they have signed a formal Partnership Agreement, in order to create greater impact at scale.

Pollinate Energy is a social enterprise that brings life-changing products, such as solar lights, water filters and clean cooking facilities, to those living in poverty in India’s urban slums and across rural Nepal.

This new formal agreement with Arup, through its Community Engagement programme in Australasia, demonstrates our shared commitment to deepen impact and reach across India and Nepal.

The partnership also demonstrates Arup’s commitment to co-create greater sustainable impact, aligning with United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals: 7 Affordable and Clean Energy, 11 Sustainable Cities and Communities and 17 on Partnerships.

Arup has been working with Pollinate since 2013, with staff taking part in their Fellowship programs, assisting their ‘Pollinators’, in India. Through fellowships, Arup staff have assisted Pollinate with on-the-ground market research support and have been a source of funding and idea generation. Equally, Arup staff have been given a unique and rewarding professional and personal development opportunity by gaining first-hand knowledge of how a social business works to benefit lives in challenging contexts.

Arup has engaged multiple areas of its business on its work with Pollinate, including International Development, Environmental Consulting and Energy. We look to extend our offering to address Pollinate’s needs and include our skills in Research, Foresight and Innovation and organisational capacity building through access to our business services and facilities.

Pollinate becomes the sixth strategic partner of the Community Engagement programme in Australasia, that includes Engineers Without Borders Australia, Habitat for Humanity Australia, RedR Australia, The Smith Family and Water Aid Australia.
