JLG Industries, Inc., which is an Oshkosh Corporation business along with the global manufacturer of mobile elevating work platforms – MEWPs and also telehandlers, has announced the acquisition of core technology that is developed by Canvas, which is a San Francisco-based construction robotics technology company that is known for its pioneering robotic solutions when it comes to interior construction applications. By way of this strategic investment within intelligent automation for the jobsite of the future, the acquisition is going to advance the strategy of JLG to go ahead and support the customer requirements that go beyond helping with jobs to actively implementing them with the help of autonomous and connected equipment.

The relationship between the companies started six years back when Canvas went on to select a JLG platform in order to develop its robot.

According to the executive vice president of Oshkosh Corporation, Mahesh Narang, through integrating robotic technology, which delivers moments of autonomy, they are actually helping crews to get more work done in the challenging labor environment of today. He adds that this investment for sure goes on to expand what customers are going to be able to accomplish with the JLG equipment.

Canvas happens to be best known for developing the first drywall finishing robot in the world, which blends robotic precision with the skills and expertise of trained tradespeople. The system makes the interior finishing workflows seamless through automating fit-and-finish tasks, decreasing rework while at the same time reducing the physical demands on workers.

Via the acquisition, Canvas technology is all set to advance the robotic end-effector capabilities and also autonomy, helping pairing with JLG access equipment in order to support an array of interior construction applications. These solutions are crafted so as to assist the skilled workers through handling repetitive and physically demanding tasks and also enabling crews to focus on the higher-value work.

Due to this acquisition, the Canvas team is going to help JLG come up with new robotic and autonomous solutions for customers in order to get more done because of the equipment they rely on, thereby raising productivity and also shaping the future when it comes to job sites.
