Brattleboro Memorial Hospital in Vermont, US has received the green light from the state for carrying out a $7.7 million expansion project. The project will lead to expansion and revamp of its emergency room as well as creation of a new fixed MRI unit. The emergency room work is estimated at nearly $5.1 million. Work will involve upgrades to the current 8509 square feet area, lobby and cafe/gift shop, along with creation of an additional area spanning 2463 square feet. The expanded hospital will sport a new ambulatory entryway, a new lobby and entrance, and six new parking areas. The property will also comprise a pair of partly covered ambulance bays with parking space for a third ambulance following the expansion.

The new emergency wing will house 12 treatment beds, two rapid treatment rooms dedicated for triage and treatment of minor illness and injury, two psychiatric/substance abuse safe rooms, as well as more spacious waiting space. The entire project is expected to be financed through a sum of $6.7 million in capital reserve funds with an additional $1 million slated to be raised via donations.
