Baylor Scott & White has sold its construction division to a Michigan-based development and construction firm. The Christman Co. โ€” which has an office in Grapevine โ€” has acquired Medco, which was the in-house construction operation for Baylor for more than 50 years.

Christman made the purchase after seeking a strategic partnership with Baylor Scott & White. โ€œThe expansion of resources allows us to serve clients in sectors where Christman excels, such as health care, corporate headquarters, higher education and places of worship,โ€ Steven Roznowski, president and CEO of Christman, said in a statement. โ€œOur new team members share Christmanโ€™s cultural foundations of integrity, safety and providing the highest value for clients. Together, we will deliver value through an extended network of national resources.โ€

Christman, which is based in Lansing, Mich., has been in business for more than a century and has more than $1 billion in annual revenue.

Medcoโ€™s most recent projects include the Baylor Scott & White Sports Therapy & Research Center at the Star in Frisco and the Heart Hospital of Plano. Terms of the sale to Christman were not disclosed.

โ€œWe are confident that Christman will advance MEDCOโ€™s mission of offering exceptional services as a leader in construction,โ€ chief operating officer at Baylor Scott & White John McWhorter said in a statement.
