An alliance of Aurecon, Leighton Contractors and York Civil has been appointed for the AU$896m Torrens Road to River Torrens project.

The project for the South Australian Department of Planning, Transport & Infrastructure involves the expansion of Adelaide’s north-south corridor to improve travel times.

Features of the project includes a 3km section of lowered non-stop roadway, three major road bridges and a pedestrian bridge, intersection upgrades, landscaping and noise barriers. The lowered non-stop motorway will provide three lanes in each direction, set approximately 8m below the existing surface. Motorists will avoid intersections with Port Road, Grange Road and Hawker Street and the Outer Harbor rail crossing.

W&G and Mott MacDonald are sub-alliance design partners on the project.

Construction is scheduled to begin in the middle of this year with the project expected to be completed in 2018.
