Skanska wins $142 million shopping centre contract in Finland

Skanska AB, a Sweden-based project development and construction group, has won a SEK960 million ($142.25 million) contract to build the Puuvilla Shopping Centre in Pori, Finland.

The contract has been awarded by the property investment company, Renor Oy, and pension insurance company, Ilmarinen Mutual. The contract will be included in order bookings for Skanska Finland for the fourth quarter 2012.

Puuvilla Shopping Centre will include approximately 43,000 square metres of commercial area, which will be available for rent. The centre will use geo-energy for heating and cooling the building and is aspired to achieve LEED Gold certification.

The construction work on the centre will start in November 2012 and is scheduled for completion in the last quarter of 2014. The project will create up to 300 construction jobs.

Skanska’s operations in Finland cover construction services, residential and commercial project development and public-private partnerships. The construction services include building construction, building services and civil and environmental construction.
