US-based Balfour Beatty Construction has been appointed to construct the initial phase of a new west campus for Palm Beach State College in the US state of Florida.

The new campus, featured on approximately 75 acres, will include a number of buildings and facilities focused on continuing education, entertainment and recreation to accommodate thousands of future students, faculty and staff as well as the surrounding community.

Located in Loxahatchee Groves, the new facility will serve thousands of students and faculty when it opens, saving them both time and money by not having to commute to one of the existing campuses located near the Florida coastline along the I-95 corridor.

Zyscovich Architects, a US-based architect, has designed the project. The entire campus will be designed to a minimum LEED Silver certification level and all of its new building will be extremely energy efficient. Construction on the new campus is scheduled to commence in late 2012.
