Construction and infrastructure company John Holland has selected Ivalua’s Source-to-Pay (S2P) platform to modernise and streamline procurement and supplier management processes across its operations in Australia and New Zealand. The move forms part of the company’s broader digital transformation strategy aimed at improving supplier visibility, strengthening operational resilience and optimising project-based procurement across large infrastructure and building projects.
John Holland plays a significant role in delivering major building, transport and infrastructure projects across Australia and New Zealand. The company employs more than 6,000 employees and works with a network of more than 1,300 subcontractors and 9,000 suppliers. In 2024, the company generated revenues of AUD 6.72 billion, reflecting the scale of procurement coordination required to support its construction activities and project delivery.
Following a comprehensive evaluation process, John Holland selected Ivalua’s platform to unify and streamline its Source-to-Pay processes. The decision was influenced by the platform’s supplier management capabilities, flexibility and ability to address the operational requirements of the construction sector. The system is designed to support complex project-based spending environments and enable procurement teams to manage large networks of subcontractors and suppliers involved in infrastructure delivery.
“Selecting Ivalua was a strategic decision to support our evolving procurement and supplier management needs. The platform’s support for complex project-based spend, clean mobile experience and robust supplier management capabilities stood out, and we are confident this transformation will enable us to unlock real value across the company,” said Arnaud Bonhoste, IT Sourcing Manager at John Holland.
The platform will be used to manage procurement activities across the company’s construction operations, helping improve supplier visibility, manage project expenditure and support mobile procurement workflows often required on construction sites. The system is expected to enhance collaboration between procurement, finance and project teams while providing greater transparency across supplier data and performance.
In large-scale infrastructure and construction environments, procurement plays a critical role in managing supply chains that involve thousands of contractors and suppliers. Digital procurement systems are increasingly being adopted by construction firms to strengthen oversight of project spending, improve supplier relationships and mitigate operational risks associated with complex infrastructure delivery.
Andrew Stafford, VP APAC at Ivalua, said the partnership reflects growing adoption of digital procurement platforms across the construction sector.
“We are delighted to partner with John Holland as they take a major step toward transforming their spend and supplier management operations. This partnership reinforces Ivalua’s growing leadership in the construction sector globally and momentum in Australia and New Zealand, demonstrating the trust placed by leading organizations that manage some of the region’s largest and most complex infrastructure projects.”
To support implementation, John Holland has appointed KPMG Australia to design and deploy the Ivalua S2P solution. The consultancy will apply its Powered Procurement methodology to integrate the system into the company’s operational processes. Consultancy and integration firm Cyrias will also support the project.
“Ivalua is ideally suited to John Holland’s complex operational requirements, thanks to its configuration flexibility and adaptability. We are looking forward to deploying our extensive experience in Ivalua deployment to help John Holland reap the benefits of an advanced supplier management platform,” said Samantha Durban, Partner, KPMG Australia.
The digital transformation initiative is expected to strengthen supply chain coordination across John Holland’s construction projects by improving compliance oversight, increasing transparency across supplier networks and supporting more efficient procurement decision-making. For companies managing large-scale infrastructure programmes, integrated procurement systems are becoming increasingly important in maintaining cost control, managing supplier performance and ensuring continuity across complex project supply chains.
