Every day safety is obviously an important consideration for any health care facility.University Hospital Aintree specified a TORMAX™ three-wing revolving door to be installed to the main entrance as part of a programme of upgrade, it was decided that a robust nightsheild would be necessary to provide a physical barrier from the external elements.

There were, however concerns as to the safety aspect of having a nightshield in the event of an emergency evacuation of the building. TORMAX™ dissolved this common problem by linking what is effectively a manual nightshield into the alarm system, ensuring that it automatically slides open if there is a fire. A standard break-out facility on the revolving door itself folds the leaves back, allowing ample room for patients on stretchers to be wheeled out if necessary.

Powered by the fully programmable TORMAX™ TRP drive, the speed at which the 3-leaf door revolves can easily be adjusted to suit requirements whilst disabled buttons allow the individual user to slow the door down with confidence. A comprehensive installation of infra-red sensors on the leading edges of the door wings automatically register if someone is walking particularly slowly and stop the door accordingly.

Finished to a high specification with an aluminium powder coating, the door creates an impressive curve to front of building successfully enhancing the existing external architecture. In addition to impressive revolving doors, TORMAX™ manufactures and installs bespoke entrance systems to suit almost any situation with a comprehensive portfolio of high performance sliding, swing and folding doors operators. Supported by a nationwide network of trained service engineers, University Hospital Aintree can be confident of the necessary back-up for maintenance and servicing.
