Arcadis appoints intelligent buildings expert and forms partnership with ICONICS

Arcadis has announced a new partnership with ICONICS, intelligent buildings software specialists, and appointed Matthew Marson as Regional Sector Director of Manufacturing & Technology as the company increases its expertise in intelligent buildings.

Arcadis and ICONICS will work together to provide a wide range of software solutions to meet the demands of a rapidly digitalising building industry. Working as ecosystem partners, ICONICS and Arcadis will support clients with either altering their existing buildings or creating new intelligent buildings. With a unique blend of software expertise and deep property sector knowledge, the partnership will look to bring something that transforms how buildings are experienced and operated.

Matthew joins Arcadis from WSP where he founded the Smart Places practice. He focuses on designing and delivering digital real estate transformation in a human-centred manner. This is focused around capitalising on Internet of Things (IoT) technologies within the built environment. Matthew trained as an Architect and is a Chartered Engineer.

Matthew was elected as a Fellow of the RSA in 2017 and named as the Institution of Mechanical Engineers Young Visionary 2016/2017 for his work in creating The World’s Most Connected Building. He sits on CIBSE’s Intelligent Buildings Group and is a keynote speaker at international industry events. He was a co-author in the Encyclopaedia of Sustainable Technologies.

Bringing a wealth of experience, Matthew implemented ICONICS solution at Accenture’s The Dock – the world’s most connected building.

The ICONICS intelligent buildings solution will be embedded in Arcadis’ UK headquarters – EightyFen.

Arcadis is also strengthening its expertise in using digital to create more sustainable buildings and places.

Commenting on his new role, Matthew said:

“I’m very excited to join Arcadis and look forward to further exploring the role we can take in supporting British manufacturers in adapting to 4th industrial revolution (4IR) technologies and how we lead green recovery with measures that deliver and prove Net Zero Carbon. By bolstering our intelligent buildings agenda, we’re going to be able to provide our clients with insights they’ve never had before”

Commenting on the partnership between ICONICS and Arcadis, Nilesh Parmar, UK Chief Entrepreneur said:

“As the property and construction industry looks to transform, with built assets looking to deliver new and different experience for its users and provide greater insights in its performance and efficiency, partnership like those that we have created with ICONICS will enable us to bring the power of technology to support our clients with higher performing assets which excite users and make everyone who is involved realise the true value and performance in a real-time environment.”
