Elkon wins concrete plants contract from Katerra for Saudi homes

Turkish concrete batching plants manufacturing firm Elkon has won a supply contract from American construction technology company Katerra to provide five concrete plants for the construction of 4,101 housing units in Saudi Arabia.

As part of the contract, Elkon will supply four ELKOMIX-90 quick master compact concrete batching plants. Each of these plants is equipped with 2250/1500 l. Twinshaft Mixer. Istanbul-based company will also provide one ELKOMIX-120 quick master compact oncrete batching plant equipped with 3375/2250 l. Twinshaft Mixer.

Each of the concrete batching plants will be installed in various cities across the kingdom.

Elkon said that plants within its quick master compact concrete batching category could be istalled and dismantled quickly. Additionally, transporting these plants between construction sites is hassle-free, and can also be installed on flat concrete surface.

Each of the five plants are equipped with water cooling chiller units that can help continue production activities in Saudi Arabia’s hot weather conditions.

In May 2019, the kingdom’s Housing Development Programme, which is driven by the kingdom’s Ministry of Housing as part of the country’s Vision 2030 economic diversification mandate, signed an agreement with Katerra to construct 4,101 homes in Makkah, Madinah, Al Bahah, Al Jouf, and Qassim.

Under the deal, signed in the presence of Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Housing, HE Majid bin Abdullah Al-Hogail, Katerra will build 2,482 homes in Makkah, and 1,043 houses in Al Madinah Al Munawwarah.

Al Bahah, Al Jouf, and Qassim will respectively receive 140, 191, and 245 homes as part of the terms of the agreement.
