Drake & Scull Water and Power L.L.C (DSWP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Drake & Scull International (DSI) PJSC, has secured an AED470 million ($127.96 million) contract from Abu Dhabi Sewerage Services Company (ADSSC) for the development of a pumping station in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Construction of the pumping station will be undertaken in partnership with Brazilian company Construtora Norberto Odebrecht, which will be responsible for designing and building it, while DSWP will provide Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) services.The tunnel pumping station will be built at at Al Wathba area, the point where the new deep tunnel sewer terminates

The project has been awarded as a part of strategic tunnel enhancement programme (STEP) of Abu Dhabi. Scope of work involves design review, procurement and construction of mechanical, electrical and plumbing, instrumentation works.

The project will reduce pressure on the current Emirate sewerage system and build infrastructure to facilitate expansion of the system in future. STEP will be among the world’s longest gravity-driven wastewater tunnels.
