Costain Group Plc, a UK-based engineering solutions provider, has secured an approximately £26 million ($37.8 million) contract with UK Power Networks.

The company has secured one of three places on the 132kVand 33 kV Steel Tower Overhead Line framework contract. The contract will be executed in a span of two years and has potentials for further extension for up to eight years.

Pursuant to the contract, the company will design and construct 132kV and 33kV steel tower overhead lines and BT21 fibre-optics throughout UK Power Networks’ operational area, which covers more than 29,000 square kilometres from The Wash in the East to the River Arun on the South Coast.

The project forms part of UK Power Networks’ £360 million ($550.96 million) investment portfolio in 2013 to upgrade the power distribution infrastructure in the South East, East of England and London.
