Italy-based contractors Impregilo and Astaldi have secured a €791 million contract from ANAS, the Italian highways authority, to carry out construction work on the third maxi-lot of the Jonica state highway in Italy.
The 38km long road runs from the junction with state highway 534 (SS-534) to Roseto Capo Spulico (Cosenza). The project involves construction of approximately 13km of tunnels, approximately 5km of viaducts and 20km of embankments. Impregilo will have a share accounting for 40% in the project.
The entire project schedule is approximately seven years and eight months, including 15 months of definitive and executive project engineering and construction start-up, and the remaining six years and five months for actual construction work.
Construction work on the two main maxi-lots, lots 5 and 6, of the Salerno-Reggio Calabria motorway from Gioia Tauro to Campo Calabro will be completed within the next 18 months.
