Construction is set to begin on a new KWD900 million passenger terminal at Kuwait International Airport in Kuwait.
The project will be executed as per a decision undertaken by the council of ministers of Kuwait in association withย the Department of Civil Aviation. The new terminal will cover an area of a 6.8 million square metres. It will don aย horizontal triangular form.
The passenger handling capacity of the new airport per year in the initial stage will be 13 million. It is expected thatย the passenger handling capacity will later be raised to 25 million annually and to 50 million gradually. The newย facility is slated to open in September 2016.
A design team including Lord Norman Foster’s team will be incharge of the new airport. The new terminal will beย converted into a regional station in the Gulf region.
