L&T obtains mammoth orders of worth $354m in India

L&T Construction, the construction arm of Larsen & Toubro, has won orders worth INR22.75bn ($354.67m) across various business segments.

The company’s water and effluent treatment business has won orders worth INR12.55bn ($195.65m).It secured an EPC order from Bangalore Development Authority to carry out utility development and management for Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Layout on a design, build and operate (DBO) basis for Package -1.

The scope of work will include 360km of potable water supply, sewage collection and recycle water supply network and 85km of precast utility ducts.Major components of the electrical and instrumentation scope include HT/LT power cabling, smart street lighting, fibre optic cables, online analysers and SCADA.

Five sewage treatment plants with combined capacity 22.5 million litres per day (MLD) using advanced sewage treatment technology MBR are also proposed under the project.

The water and effluent treatment business has also won an EPC order from the Madhya Pradesh Jal Nigam Maryadit (MPJNM) to provide water to the Seoni and Chappara Blocks of Seoni district in the state of Madhya Pradesh.

The scope of work includes supply and laying of pipelines, design and construction of intake pump houses, water treatment plant and water storage structures, including house service connections.

The company’s power transmission and distribution business has secured solar EPC orders worth INR5.9bn ($91.98m).The company has won an order from NLC India Limited (formerly Neyveli Lignite Corporation Limited) for setting up of a 100MW (AC) grid interactive solar photovoltaic power project in the state of Tamil Nadu.
According to L&T Construction, this is one of the largest solar orders the business has secured from a Navratna enterprise of the Government of India.

The business has secured another order from SB Energy One Private, belonging to the SoftBank Group, for building a 100MW (AC) solar photovoltaic power plant at Bhadla Phase III Solar Park in Rajasthan.

The buildings and factories business has secured an order worth INR4.3bn ($67.08m).The company has received a repeat order for the construction of a residential project in Oman. The scope includes structure, architectural finishes, MEP services and external development.
