Trimble has entered into an agreement to acquire Document Crunch, a specialist in AI-driven document analysis and risk management for the construction sector. The transaction is set to integrate advanced document intelligence capabilities into the Trimble Construction One Project Delivery ecosystem, with the aim of improving operational workflows across project management and construction ERP environments. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

The acquisition brings into focus Document Crunchโ€™s AI-powered platform, which is engineered to detect contractual risk provisions, payment disputes, specification non-compliance, and notification failures factors that can significantly impact contractor profitability. The solution has already been applied across more than 10,000 projects, supporting a wide user base that includes general contractors, subcontractors, designers, owners, and insurance stakeholders involved in construction risk oversight. By embedding these capabilities, the Trimble Document Crunch acquisition is expected to strengthen compliance automation within project lifecycles.

Beyond risk identification, the platform enables early detection of inconsistencies such as invoice payment term mismatches and broader contractual or scope-related risks before they escalate into disputes. It also facilitates streamlined documentation processes, including the creation of risk reviews, project playbooks, and delay notifications. Additionally, it ensures that contractual obligations and compliance requirements are systematically integrated into project management and ERP workflows, enhancing execution efficiency across construction projects.

Mark Schwartz, senior vice president of AECO software at Trimble, described the acquisition in terms of the wider Trimble Construction One suite: โ€œDocument Crunch will provide a โ€˜contractual rule setโ€™ to serve as the intelligent DNA for the entire TC1 suite, automatically pushing critical obligations, compliance requirements and payment terms into Trimbleโ€™s project delivery ecosystem.โ€

Josh Levy, co-founder and chief executive of Document Crunch, said that joining Trimble would enable the company to scale its platform. โ€œWeโ€™re excited to build upon the strategic foundation of Trimble to help customers unlock new dimensions of value from data that resides across the construction lifecycle,โ€ he said. โ€œJoining Trimble allows us to scale our vision and evolve to a core component of a widely comprehensive construction platform.โ€

Document Crunch, which is already part of the Trimble Ventures portfolio and integrated with Trimble ProjectSight project management software, will see further integration across the Trimble Construction ecosystem as outlined in the product roadmap. The Trimble Document Crunch acquisition is positioned to expand the availability of its risk reduction platform, currently used by North American civil and building contractors, while deepening its role within a unified construction technology stack.
