Toyota to build compressor manufacturing plant in Indonesia

Japan-based Toyota Industries Corporation has announced that it will construct a new factory to produce automotive air-conditioning compressors at Bekasi, West Java Province, Indonesia.

According to Toyota, the facility will be built as a new plant for the compressor-manufacturing subsidiary P.T. TD Automotive Compressor Indonesia (TACI). The new facility has a site area of about 100,000 square metres and factory area of approximately 28,000 square metres.

The new facility will be constructed with an investment capital of IDR747 billion ($76.9 million). Scheduled to begin operation in May 2014, the facility will create 500 new jobs in the region.

Currently, TACI has an annual production capacity of 1.6 million units at its existing facility. It primarily supplies compressors to the ASEAN market focusing on Indonesia and Thailand.

To meet increasing demand within the ASEAN region and other non-ASEAN countries, TACI intends to relocate production in stages from its present factory to the new factory and to boost its annual production capacity to three million units.
