Skanska USA has signed a contract with the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) to build the East Midtown Greenway in New York City. The contract is worth USD 94 M, about SEK 887 M, which will be included in US order bookings for the second quarter of 2019.

Under the contract, Skanska will build public walkway and bike path along the East River between East 53rd and East 61st Streets. Skanska will also install a pedestrian bridge at East 54th Street. Skanska has worked on behalf of the NYCEDC to deliver a number of transformative projects along New York Cityโ€™s waterfronts, including the Waterside Pier between East 38th and East 41st Streets and the completed construction of thirteen new ferry landings and six more still to be constructed to support the expansion of the NYC Ferry service.

Work is set to begin in September 2019 and continue through early 2022.

Skanska is one of the leading construction and development companies in USA, specializing in building construction, civil infrastructure and developing commercial properties in select U.S. markets. Skanska USA had sales of SEK 67 billion and about 9,000 employees in its operations in 2018.
