NG Bailey takes M&E package on Sutton office development

NG Bailey has secured a £12.5m subcontract for mechanical and electrical (M&E) services at the new Surrey offices of offshore contractor Subsea 7. 40 Brighton Road, Sutton, will be home to Subsea 7

The £40m development is being built in Sutton by Galliford Try, which has subcontracted the M&E package to NG Bailey.

The five-storey building at 40 Brighton Road will be home for Subsea 7’s London Global Projects operations, providing 17,300m2 of office space. Completion is expected in summer 2016.

NG Bailey operations director Adam Rowland described the contract win as “an endorsement of the collaborative approach adopted by all parties to pool our skills and expertise during the tender period”.

He said: “As well as signalling the success of six months’ hard work from all of our Reading-based team, it provides a wider group opportunity to bring all of our specialisms to the fore as the project also creates significant scope for both our IT services and offsite manufacture divisions.”

The 40 Brighton Road project will be finished to a Category B standard, and comprises a central covered atrium and a basement car park for 90 vehicles. Further works include a reception area, gym, data centre and a café – all on the ground floor – with office space on the first to fourth floor, and a restaurant on the fourth floor.

NG Bailey is also working with Galliford Try on the £24m Chatham Place residential development in Reading (part of a £100m mixed-use regeneration scheme being developed by Muse in partnership with Reading Borough Council).
