G-Kracht has entered into a framework agreement with the City of Amsterdam for the World Heritage-listed Dutch canal quay wall renovation project.
G-Kracht is a JV established by GIKEN Europe with partners Gebr De Koning and Van Gelder Group. The agreement, for the commercial phase of the project, was signed between the parties based on the success of the pilot-phase press-in work, which was completed last March
The pilot work saw the use of technologies such as the Gyropress Method and the electric GRB System. The Gyropress Method enables tubular pile rotary cutting press-in without removing existing revetments.
Meanwhile, the GRB System allows machinery operation on existing driven piles, eliminating the need for temporary work. The construction methods employed during the pilot phase were said to be vibration-free and noise-free, aligning with the goals of carbon neutrality.
Following the completion of the pilot work, G-Kracht has secured contract orders for a total of 1.3km, including extra pilot work, over the next four years.
Contracts are set to be renewed biennially, subject to construction performance, with an anticipated additional 2km section expected to be awarded within the subsequent four years.
Over the eight-year commercial phase, the renovation work will cover a total of 3.3km, including the pilot work.
Press-in construction is scheduled to commence later this year. The Gyropress Method and GRB System are expected to become standard construction methods for the project after the commercial phase.
Earlier this month, GIKEN revealed that it was commencing the sale of the new SILENT PILERTM F302, a multifunctional press-in and extraction machine, from August onwards.
