Blanchard Holdings begins affordable housing project in Canada

Blanchard Holdings Inc. has commenced construction work on a new affordable housing in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan in Canada.

The project comprises 28 rental row-house style units (14 two-bedroom walk out basement units and 14 three-bedroom units on the main and second floors). The total cost of the development is approximately $3.9 million. The company is providing $1.2 million and the Saskatchewan Housing Corporation is providing $2.6 million for the project.

The government of Canada, through the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) will invest more than $2 billion in housing in 2012. Of this amount, $1.7 billion would be spent in support of almost 605,000 households living in existing social housing. In Saskatchewan, this represents about 29,000 households.
