Alstom SA, a France-based energy infrastructure company, has signed two orders worth approximately €75 million ($96.03 million) with Metka S.A., a Greece-based EPC contractor, to deliver power generation equipment for power plants in Jordan.

Metka is executing the power projects for Samra Electric Power Company. The first contract involves the delivery of a GT13E2 gas turbine and associated spares for a new fast-track simple cycle power plant, which is being constructed in the region of Zarqa in Jordan.

Alstom will design, deliver and supervise the installation of one GT13E2 gas turbine, generator and auxiliaries for the new unit. The supply and installation will take place in a fast-track mode with the commercial operation is scheduled for June 2013. The power plant will add 146MW to the Jordanian grid.

The second contract involves the supply of Alstom steam-tail add-on technology to convert the existing 285MW Samra III simple cycle gas-fired plant to a combined cycle plant. The technology will increase the power generation capacity of the unit by an additional 143MW. The project will begin commercial operation in 2015.
