ACS Group, through its engineering subsidiary IntecsaIndustrial, has been awarded two new contracts in Morocco, worth € 255 million. These contracts have been awarded by the OCP (Office Chériffien de Phosphates),following a tender process where several international engineering companies have taken part.

These two new projects, which have already begin their activity, will last 26 and 32 months respectively. The scope of the works include basic engineering, detailed engineering, equipment and material supply, construction and implementation of two 5,000 tons-per-day sulphuric acid plants. Sulphuric acid will be used as a commodity for the elaboration of granulated phosphate fertilizers and the energy generated by these plants will be used in the industrial site where they will be located, almost eliminating the necessity of resorting to external electrical power.

These plants will be two of the largest sulphuric acid plants worldwide, which will minimize any environmental impact. They will also optimize the fertilizers’ production so as to help agricultural industry sustainability and countries with demographic growth, mostly in the African mainland. These plants will be based in Jorf Lasfar industrial site, 120 Km far from southern Casablanca
