South Korea-based HD Construction Equipment and France’s Manitou Group have announced the signing of a mutual sales partnership agreement to expand their respective compact equipment portfolio offerings on a global scale. Under the terms of the alliance, HD Construction Equipment—the manufacturer of Hyundai and Develon equipment—will source compact machinery from Manitou Group for international distribution. In exchange, Manitou Group will integrate HD Construction Equipment’s compact solutions into its existing lineup for the Manitou and Gehl brands. The partnership is designed to leverage the industrial excellence and innovative capabilities of both industry leaders to enhance global market presence and cost competitiveness.
According to Moon Jae-young, president and CEO of HD Construction Equipment, the partnership represents a significant growth opportunity beyond simple product line enhancement. The agreement is a strategic move to boost the competitiveness of compact products and opens up new avenues for market expansion. HD Construction Equipment has identified compact construction machinery as a primary growth driver and has set a target to achieve $950 million in segment sales by 2030. The company plans to scale up production and improve both product quality and cost-effectiveness as part of this broader strategy.
Manitou Group, which produces Gehl compact loaders, telehandlers, forklifts, and aerial work platforms, views the alliance as a critical step in its roadmap to accelerate growth within its compact equipment ranges. Sylvain Blaise, president and CEO of Manitou Group, stated that the collaboration allows the company to reach a new milestone in its compact equipment portfolio expansion while delivering enhanced value to its global dealer network and customer base. The partnership brings together the strengths of two major producers to address the evolving needs of the global construction, agricultural, and industrial sectors.
