Bowmer & Kirkland has landed an £18m contract to build a warehouse in Burnley.

CGI of the Exertis distribution centre in Burnley.

Developer Eshton has appointed Bowmer & Kirkland to deliver a 42,000m2 distribution centre at Burnley Bridge Business Park after signing up technology distribution business Exertis for the development.

The deal also includes expansion land allowing the premises to be extended by nearly 20,000m2 in the future.

Bowmer & Kirkland is expected to complete construction by May 2016 and Exertis aims to become fully operational at the site by early 2017.

The planning application was recently approved by Burnley Borough Council and the deal will make Exertis the largest occupier to date as negotiations continue for space remaining at the £50m business park.

Bowmer & Kirkland divisional director Gary Bradley said: “We are very pleased to have been appointed to work on this prestigious scheme for Eshton and Exertis at Burnley Bridge Business Park and look forward to working with the whole project team.”

Eshton managing director James Chapman added: “We believe this is the largest distribution property deal in the region this year and it is not only great news for Burnley Bridge Business Park but also for the local area.

“Bowmer & Kirkland has substantial experience delivering projects on this scale and we felt confident that they would be able to deliver it within the required timescales and budget.”
