UK-based Lovell Partnerships has announced the start-on-site at Hillington Square, King’s Lynn, a major estate regeneration programme, for Freebridge Community Housing.

The Hillington Square plans have been developed by Freebridge with designers Hemingway Design and architects mae LLP in consultation with the local community.

The key features of the design include new staircases with controlled access, improved storage and car parking and separation of the blocks to create a more open feel.

The regeneration will be delivered in a phased approach with Greyfriars and Millfleet benefitting from improvement first, followed by Valentine and Thompson. Phase I, which is due for completion in 2014, will see Greyfriars House and Millfleet House undergo extensive refurbishment.

Freebridge has also been working with the Cabinet Office Behavioural Insights Team to develop an innovative programme of community-based activities which will complement the physical regeneration.

Tony Tann, regional director at Lovell, said: “The official start on site allows us to show the community the work that has been carried out so far, but also demonstrate what more needs to take place. We will be working alongside people that are living at Hillington Square and will be keen to get feedback on the site developments whenever possible.”
