EC Harris, a UK-based built asset consultancy firm, has been selected by The Jockey Club to deliver its new £45 million ($70.1 million) racecourse redevelopment at Cheltenham in England, UK.

Pursuant to the contract, EC Harris will be responsible for design and procurement management, contract management, handover and occupation management through to anticipated completion of the new racecourse to be showcased in time for the Cheltenham Festival in March 2016.

The redevelopment will feature a redefined and re-routed Horse Walk from the Parade Ring to the Racecourse, including adaptations and improvements to the Tented Village, major improvements to ground level circulation to / from and around the Parade Ring / new Grandstand and to / from the Tented Village and a major new elevated deck circulation, an integrated refurbishment of the Weighing Room / Paddock Building. The new Grandstand will replace the existing A&R Stand and Royal Box.

The project also includes a review and reorganisation of pedestrian movement around the Parade Ring on multiple levels to and from the Paddock and the Racecourse and eastwards across the Horse Walk to the Guinness Village area. Currently, the project is under consideration for planning approval.
