Hamad Medical Corp to build Medical City in Yemen

Qatar’s private healthcare company Hamad Medical Corporation is set to build a new $289m medical city in Yemen.

According to The Peninsula, the 547,000m2 city will be built in Taez and will specialise in four different disciplines – heart disease, Paediatrics, gynaecology and internal diseases.

The facility is being funded and built by Qatari Diar – the real estate development arm of Qatar’s sovereign wealth fund, Qatar Investment Authority.

A delegation from Qatari Diar is currently visiting Yemen and has met with the governor of Taez to discuss preparations for the hospital, which will contain 1,000 beds.

Work on the first of a three-phase schedule is set to start next year.
