US-based York Bridge Concepts has completed construction of a timber vehicular bridge at the Del Webb Community in Oxford Greens, Connecticut.

The double-lane timber vehicular bridge with pedestrian walkway is 120 feet long. The choice of a timber vehicular bridge, over concrete, was driven by time constraints, environmental factors and cost concerns.

The environmental factors include disturbance of the wetlands with conventional construction methods. The company designed and constructed the timber bridge using deck-level construction, which minimized the impact upon the environment. The bridge has a quick turn, sophisticated Sienna-style handrails and K-style guide rails, which has been built using heavy timbers that are blended with bronze metals which complements the bridge’s unique appeal.

The bridge forms part of the phase IV of PulteGroup’s Del Webb community development at Oxford Greens. The bridge accentuates the aesthetic appeal of the project.
