US-based Weyerhaeuser Company has reported net earnings of $157 million, or 0.29 per share, for the third quarter of 2011, compared to $1.1 billion, or $3.50 per share, for the same quarter of 2010. The company has reported net sales of $1.56 billion for the third quarter of 2011, compared to $1.51 billion for the same period of 2010. Weyerhaeuser has reported an operating income of $100 million for the third quarter of 2011, compared to $160 million for the same quarter of 2010.

For the nine months ended 30 September 2011, the company’s net earnings were $266 million, or $0.49 per share, compared to $1.11 billion, or $4.48 per share, for the comparable period in 2010.

The company has reported net sales of $4.6 billion for the first nine months of 2011, compared to $4.4 billion for the same period of 2010. Year-to-date operating income was $463 million, compared to $400 million for the first nine months of 2010.

Excluding special items, Weyerhaeuser anticipates a larger loss from continuing operations in the fourth quarter of 2011 due to seasonally weaker market conditions. The company expects lower selling prices for lumber and oriented strand board and reduced sales volumes and operating rates across all product lines.
