Dubai receives sustainable building accreditation

Dubai Aluminium’s (Dubal) products have been confirmed as suitable for sustainable building practices by two internationally acclaimed bodies.

The announcement follows what the company said was ‘rigorous assessment’ by an independent agency.

Dubal’s products have been declared suitable for sustainable business practices by the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) programme.

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Nachhaltiges Bauen (DGNB, which translates as the German Sustainable Building Council) also passed Dubal’s products.

“These expert assessments and declarations provide a competitive advantage for DUBAL’s products, both in catering for our existing markets and acquiring niche markets for our value-added products,” said Dubal president and chief executive officer, Abdulla Kalban.

“They will also instill stronger and more sustained customer confidence, which is vital in today’s globalised and industrialised economy where environmental protection is a prime area of focus.”

Dubal is a major supplier of foundry alloy to the Far East’s automotive industry, a supplier of extrusion billet for construction markets and a supplier of primary aluminium for use in the electronics and aerospace industries.
