Skanska USA, an arm of Sweden-based construction company Skanska AB, and its equal stake joint venture partner DPR Construction, have secured a $256 million contract for the development of a research and development facility in US. Pursuant to the contract, the companies will act as the construction manager for the scheme, which involves development of an approximately 260,000 square meter state-of-the-art research and development (R&D) facility. The companies have not disclosed the name of the client. The R&D facility will be constructed using several sustainable practices, based on which the companies anticipate securing a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification from the US Green Building Council. Skanska’s share of the contract is $128 million. New York-headquartered Skanska USA is a development and construction companies. The company has four business units, namely Skanska USA Building, Skanska USA Civil, Skanska Infrastructure Development, and Skanska Commercial Development.
