Skanska has signed a contract with Auratum Asunnot Helsinki Oy, a developer of high-class apartments, to convert an old office building in Helsinki, Finland, into 146 homes. The contract is worth approximately EUR 50 M, about SEK 540 M, which will be included in the Nordic order bookings for the third quarter 2019.

Located in a prime area in Helsinki, the building used to house the Finnish Broadcasting Company in the 1990’s. After the renovation, besides the apartments, the eight-storey building will have two rentable spaces for business facilities. There will also be a gym, a spa and other leisure facilities. The apartments on the top floor will have their own terraces.

Skanska will begin its construction works in September, and the expected completion time for the project is end of 2022.

Skanska is one of the leading development and construction companies in the Nordics, with operations in building construction and civil engineering in Sweden, Norway and Finland, and developing residential- and commercial property projects in select home markets. The commercial development stream is also active in Denmark. Skanska had sales of about SEK 67 billion and more than 15,500 employees in its Nordic operations during 2018.
