Fabritecture, a multinational company engaged in design, manufacture and installation of quality tensile membrane structures, has completed an AUD3.4 millionĀ  project for the full turnkey design and construction of Lotus Theatre for Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia.

Lotus Theatre is a teaching facility that offers approximately 500 seats. The theatre is a 700 square metre facility that features retractable lower levels of theatre-style seating, advanced IT and audio visual system, LED dimmable lighting, male and female amenities, a plant room, IT room, storage room, service corridors and an entrance foyer.

The theatre is completely air conditioned and features a CCTV security system. The building is surrounded by a landscaped garden. The company has made the outer membrane of the lecture theatre structure with white, block-out Premium Ferrari 902S PVC and the interior has been lined with a Ferrari Batyline fabric with a micro-perforated surface. The Ferrari Batyline fabric, as an interior material, functions as an efficient acoustic absorption material, and negates the need for additional absorbing material. The building has been fully insulated with a Bondor hard walling system and has been supported by a steel truss frame. The structure is relocatable, which makes it an economical, sustainable and functional solution for the university.
