Saint-Gobain announced on October 1, 2026 that it has completed the Xypex acquisition, a Vancouver, Canada-based company specialising in additives and crystalline waterproofing coatings. The Xypex acquisition, announced on July 6, 2026, adds a complementary technology to Saint-Gobain’s construction chemistry platform. Xypex serves over 100 countries, and its revenue is expected to reach 110 million Canadian dollars in 2026, according to the press release. The company has an established position in infrastructure markets and in prescriptions for the construction sector, with a presence across North America, Asia-Pacific and Europe.
Xypex’s crystalline waterproofing technology is intended to improve the durability and longevity of concrete structures. According to the group, it can contribute to extending the lifespan of infrastructures and reducing maintenance needs. The technology can also be used alone or in combination with membrane systems. The acquisition strengthens Saint-Gobain’s existing waterproofing portfolio, which includes membranes such as GCP Preprufe and Fosroc Proofex. Its portfolio also covers liquid application systems, including Stirling Lloyd’s Eliminator and GCP Silcor, together with injection techniques and repair technologies.
The completed Xypex acquisition further develops Saint-Gobain’s construction chemistry platform by adding a technology the group describes as highly differentiated and complementary to its waterproofing solutions portfolio. Xypex’s international reach and established infrastructure position add to the platform’s existing activities in multiple markets. Saint-Gobain is headquartered in Courbevoie and generated revenue of 46.5 billion euros in 2025. The group employs 162,000 employees and is present in 81 countries. With Xypex’s solutions being used in over 100 countries, its 2026 revenue is expected to reach 110 million Canadian dollars. The transaction therefore adds crystalline waterproofing capabilities to Saint-Gobain’s construction chemistry activities while broadening the technologies available within its waterproofing portfolio for concrete structures across its infrastructure and construction markets in key North America, Asia-Pacific and Europe.
