Denso Do Brasil Ltda (DNBR), a subsidiary of Denso Corporation, has opened new manufacturing plant and a technical centre in Santa Barbara d’Oeste City, Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The 8,000 square metres technical centre will include a vehicle climate wind tunnel, which will enable Denso to reduce its development lead time and offer competitive products more quickly for the region. The centre will be used for developing automotive air conditioning systems, starters, alternators, powertrain related systems and other products.

The Santa Barbara plant, with total floor area of 30,200 square metres and site area of 300,000 square metres is the second plant of DNBR. It started production of air-conditioning systems and cooling modules for automobiles. The plant recently completed the installation of production equipment and is scheduled to begin manufacturing starters and windshield wipers in September.

In addition to the Brazil technical centre, Denso has technical centres in Japan, North America, Europe, Thailand China and India.

By 2015, the total investment of the new facilities will represent approximately BRL205 million (approximately $100 million), with an estimated 800 employees.
