Exciting times for the MEP market in Qatar

Awards launched to recognise outstanding achievements in the booming Qatari construction & infrastructure sector.

Recognising the stature that Qatar has attained over the recent years for its rapidly developing and resilient construction and infrastructure sector, the launch of MEP Awards has recently been announced.

The awards ceremony will be held alongside the 2nd Annual MEP Summit in Doha on 7 May 2012. MEP services, in recent times, have evolved from a conventional service to an integrated service delivery pattern that encompasses services ranging from designing, procuring, supplying, installing, integrating, testing and commissioning. According to a report, compiled by Building Technologies Practices, the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar will have a combined share of around 89% of the overall MEP market in the GCC.

Qatar’s World Cup vision of sustainability and efficiency of all buildings has spurred on the formation of the Qatar Sustainability Assessment System (QSAS). This has led to all projects undergoing a green building plan where by sustainability and cost-effective designs are the top priority for developers. With most of the MEP products and materials being imported, the focus on prompt delivery of materials to ensure projects are on time is of utmost importance.

“With both developers and contractors wanting to strive to be the best in the market, the industry is engaging in huge, iconic, sophisticated and sustainable projects with a vast focus on adopting best practices, latest technologies and low maintenance solutions” said Liesel Papke, conference director at IQPC Middle East – the company behind this event.

“This provides everyone involved with this industry in Qatar with the perfect opportunity to not just strive for the most innovative designs, technologies and solutions in MEP, but also get recognised and rewarded at an international forum that this summit provides.”

“At the MEP Qatar Awards 2012 Gala Dinner we will celebrate the historic strides made within the country’s MEP sector through integrated master plans, iconic designs and solutions that have propelled Doha onto the world map”, Papke added.
