Future Ready Construction Equipment for Infrastructure Growth

The next generation of heavy machinery is being forged at the intersection of sustainability and high-performance computing. As nations embark on massive infrastructure renewals, the equipment leading the charge will be defined by its ability to integrate with digital twins, utilize alternative energy sources, and operate within a connected ecosystem that prioritizes long-term resilience and productivity.

Safety Innovation in Modern Construction Machinery Design

The pursuit of a zero-harm workplace is driving a technological revolution in the way heavy equipment is engineered and operated. By integrating advanced sensors and automated intervention systems, the industry is creating a protective shield around its most valuable assets the people on the ground and in the cab significantly reducing the inherent risks of complex building environments.

Compact Construction Equipment Meeting Urban Project Needs

The rapid expansion of city infrastructure requires a new generation of machinery designed for high-density environments. These specialized tools prioritize maneuverability and reduced environmental impact, allowing contractors to execute complex builds in tight spaces without compromising the efficiency or safety of the surrounding metropolitan area.

Advancing Prefabrication 2026

The Liebherr 340 EC-B 16 flat-top cranes are currently performing safe and accurate lifting operations to construct the new Rahmede Valley Bridge on Germany’s A45 motorway. The cranes are delivering excellent performance with jib lengths of 75 metres and hook heights of 61 and 65 metres installed on the foundation anchors. This plays a key role in keeping the project on schedule.

Construction of the new Rahmede Valley Bridge, one of the most important viaducts in North Rhine-Westphalia. The construction of the new Rahmede Valley Bridge has been progressing rapidly since work began in October 2023. Two Liebherr 340 EC-B 16 flat-top cranes supplied by full-service crane provider BKL Baukran Logistik GmbH are playing a crucial role in the process.

Liebherr EC-B Series Flat-Top Cranes Support Rahmede Valley Bridge Construction

The two flat-top cranes are of 75 metre jib and hook heights of 61 and 65 metres respectively. The two flat-top cranes are enabling seamless concrete pouring and assembly work along the 453 metre-long bridge construction site. The Liebherr EC-B cranes have demonstrated their capabilities from the beginning of the foundation and substructure work.  They have accompanied every phase of the project, from the construction of the eight main piers of the bridge to concreting of deck slabs.

The stable design and efficient transport and assembly processes of Liebherr EC-B series flat-top cranes make it an ideal choice for Rahmede Valley Bridge.

Liebherr Cranes Boost Efficiency and Precision in Rahmede Valley Bridge Project

BKL Baukran Logistik GmbH, one of Europe’s leading providers of crane solutions, has supplied the two Liebherr cranes from its fleet of over 700 rental cranes. Besides delivery and installation, BKL has also offered technical planning and on-site support throughout the project.

The Rahmede Valley Bridge is part of one of the most important infrastructure undertakings in the region and a crucial component of the A45 motorway, also referred to as the Sauerland Line. The new bridge will replace the old, structurally unsound existing bridge and ensure long-term traffic flow on one of Germany’s most significant north–south transport corridors. Since the formal commencement of the work in October 2023, the replacement project has been progressing as per the schedule. The Liebherr cranes have proven indispensable, from the construction of abutments and piers to the pre-assembly of steel components and concrete pouring of the deck.

Whether it is building abutments and piers or pre-assembling steel elements and concrete pouring on the deck, Liebherr EC-B cranes have become indispensable. The Liebherr EC-B series cranes excelled even during challenging logistical conditions, including tightly scheduled deliveries and limited space on sitem. They can be mobilised efficiently with just four transport units, while features such as “Load Plus” enable an on-demand increase in lifting capacity by up to 20%. The robust design, ease of operation, and precise control systems of Liebherr’s flat-top cranes make it a success until their scheduled dismantling in autumn 2025.
