Lagan Asphalt have placed 130,000 tonnes bituminous materials to date.Lagan Asphalt surfacing works on Southern motorway scheme are almost complete

As part of the Irish government’s Infrastructure Stimulus package, a new road to replace the existing N17 and N18 between Gort and Tuam is being constructed. The project road commences at the northern end of the N18 Crusheen to Gort scheme which opened to traffic in November 2010.

The route will be of motorway standard from Gort to the junction at Kilmore, just south of Tuam, a distance of 53.2km.

Surfacing works on the Southern section (N18 Oranmore to Fort) are now more than 50% complete. Lagan Asphalt have placed a staggering 130,000 tonnes of bituminous materials to date, out of 250,000 tonnes in total. Completion is planned for the summer of 2017.
