Local contractor Barnes Construction has been selected to build a new £6m medical centre in Ipswich.

The Two Rivers Medical Centre is being built in northeast Ipswich and replaces two surgeries that are merging.

The new 2,200m2 facility is being developed by Apollo Capital Projects Development. Construction starts in June 2015 and is expected to be completed in summer 2016.

Barnes Construction managing director Nick Fayers said: “As a locally-based family business, we are delighted to have been appointed by Apollo to build the new medical centre. It is poignant as a number of our staff are patients of the Two Rivers Practice, so they will be particularly interested in the new facilities we are building.”
