UAE-based Emaar Properties PJSC has announced the completion and opening of an elevated link, which connects Burj Khalifa metro station and Dubai Mall in UAE.

The 820m link is aimed at streamlining traffic in Downtown Dubai while allowing visitors to walk across the area through a temperature-controlled travellator. The link will have 10 travellators, each between 70m and 120m in length and 1.4m in width with a central walkway for pedestrian use.

The travellators will move at an average speed of 0.5 metres per second and at its peak capacity it can carry over 13,500 people per hour. The link features exit routes, access stairs and glass views of the area and can also be used by non-metro passengers.

Emaar Properties chairman Mohamed Alabbar said that the link had been designed to accommodate the maximum number of visitors to the mall, Burj Khalifa and Downtown Dubai.
