US-based commercial real estate companies Duke Realty has broken ground for Wishard Health Services’ new faculty office building on the campus of Eskenazi Health hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana, US.

The five-storey, 274,000 square feet Fifth Third Faculty Office Building (FOB) is part of $754 million Eskenazi Health project, which was launched in June 2010.

The facility will house support functions for the hospital, including office space for administrative staff and Indiana University School of Medicine faculty physicians who will practice at the campus, as well as work space for both research and various academic support programs.

The new FOB, along with an 11-storey hospital tower and a planned ambulatory care building, will enable Eskenazi Health’s physicians and staff to be consolidated on one modern campus. The Fifth Third FOB will be jointly owned by Duke Realty and Health and Hospital Corporation of Marion County (HHC). Fifth Third Bank has donated funds for the construction of the office complex.

HOK Group Inc. and BSA LifeStructures Inc. served as architects for the project , Duke Realty will serve as construction manager and property manager. The new campus is expected to receive LEED Silver certification. Work on the facility is scheduled for completion by December 2013.
