Construction Output In Europe Surges By 3.9% In January

The construction output across the Euro region in January this year saw an increase of 3.9% as compared to the previous month, according to the updated Eurostat figures. The euroindicators report, which happens to be the statistics and data arm of the European Commission, reported that the seasonally adjusted production across the EU was up by 3.5%.

Production also saw an increase as compared to the same month last year, by 0.9% in the Euro area and by 1.4% across the EU.

Month on month, building construction across the Eurozone has seen an increase of 4.2%, with civil engineering surging to 3%. In the yearly comparison that was made, eurozone numbers did not look that positive, with building construction only growing by 1.4% in January 2023 as compared to January 2022. The civil engineering output in fact witnessed a decline of 1.9%.

As far as the regional perspective was concerned, Eurostat highlighted the fact that the biggest push that took place in production was in Germany, which stood at +12.6%, followed by Slovenia at +9.8%, and thereafter by Poland at +7.0%.

When it comes to the other end of the scale, the biggest dip in production was seen in Hungary, which was -5.0%, followed by Romania and Belgium at -4.3% and -1.5%, respectively.
