The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania has commenced construction work on Hills Plaza building for Wharton | San Francisco campus on the San Francisco Embarcadero.

Upon completion in January 2012, the Wharton | San Francisco campus will be relocated to the new building. Wharton | San Francisco will be featured with 17 group study rooms, state-of-the-art amphitheatre classroom and sweeping views of the San Francisco Bay. The new campus will also include all unique digital high definition (HD) classrooms and group study rooms designed to support Wharton’s commitment to connected and lifelong learning.

The classrooms at the new campus will be production-ready for streaming or broadcasting classes, speaker series and networking events in HD to students, alumni and the world. Group study rooms will enable teams to work with each other down the hall, back in Philadelphia, or around the globe using HD video conferencing and innovative controls to create shared digital workspaces.

Thomas Robertson, dean of the Wharton School, was reported stating that the relocation of the campus to Hills Plaza is aligned with the school’s vision to establish Wharton as a vibrant presence on both coasts and, moving forward, to position it as a portal to countries in Asia and the Pacific Rim.
