Thomas Armstrong (Construction) Ltd. are delighted to announce that they will be working with South Tynedale Railway on the project at Shed 1, Alston.
The Contract is just part of an exciting multi-million pound development project which is being funded by a Heritage Lottery Fund grant.
The work is the refurbishment of the existing train repair shed. Â The work includes over cladding, new windows and doors externally. Â Internally the work includes the formation of a new mezzanine floor and welfare facilities, a new structural screed, the formation of a new inspection pit and associated M&E etc. Â Externally there is some new fencing, gates, footpaths and bases for mechanical plant.
Works are to commence on the 23rd May 2016 for approximately 23 weeks. Â Once completed the facility will allow visitors to view restoration work carried out by the railway at close hand.
