During Phase 1, March 18–21, Home Furniture will offer a comprehensive overview of contemporary living, bringing together leading brands and new products across high-end design, whole-house customization, upholstery, living and dining furniture.

Original design will remain a major focus, with a new Designer Sourcing Zone creating direct connections between brands, designers, manufacturers and buyers. At the same time, CIFF will continue to explore some of the fastest-evolving areas of contemporary living, including smart furniture, healthy and elderly-friendly living, pet living and new retail.

Homedecor & Hometextile will present a broad spectrum of interior decoration and textile solutions, while Outdoor Furniture, Sunshade & Leisure will showcase the evolution of outdoor living through furniture, sunshade systems, materials and leisure products.

New scenarios for work and commercial spaces

During Phase 2, March 28–31, Office & Commercial Space will explore the transformation of workplaces and public environments, with particular attention to design, wellbeing, flexibility, smart technologies and sustainability.

From integrated office solutions and seating – including a dedicated E-sports Seating Zone – to expanded solutions for education and hospitality environments, the exhibition will present new approaches to the rapidly changing ways in which people work, interact and experience shared spaces.

Smart manufacturing and material innovation

Completing the entire furniture supply chain, CIFM/interzum guangzhou will bring together leading companies in furniture machinery, hardware and materials. Automation, flexible production, smart home hardware and innovative materials will demonstrate how technology is transforming furniture manufacturing, improving efficiency, customization and product quality while supporting the industry’s transition towards more sustainable production models.

Internationalisation will remain at the heart of CIFF Guangzhou’s strategy.

Unique presentations relevant to the show’s audience of lighting specifiers, architects, interior designers, and engineers will be prioritized. The timber construction session will focus on timber architecture and fire, with Cristian Maluk, technical director at DAMA Engineering Consultants, examining analysis and design methods, risk mitigation strategies, prescriptive and performance-based design approaches, case studies and recent research. Another session will address the restoration of the former Convent of the Discalced Carmelites, also known as the Convent of San José, in Zumaia. The 17th-century building has been converted into a Cultural Centre by ZETABI Arkitektura Bulegoa in collaboration with TECNALIA and Gipuzkoa Provincial Council. The project combines conservation work with improvements in safety, energy efficiency, sustainability and accessibility, with representatives from the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council, ZETABI Arkitektura Bulegoa and TECNALIA sharing their experience of the intervention.

Habitability and comfort in timber interiors will also feature, with Matxalen Acasuso Atutxa and Paz Martín Rodríguez discussing the habitaTU guide and approaches to living spaces in homes, residences and hotels in the Basque Country. They will examine timber’s role in creating healthier and more comfortable indoor environments, including natural humidity regulation, while also highlighting industrialised construction and dry-assembly systems. A further session will examine distinctive building envelopes and the industrialisation of timber façades, focusing on the coordination and planning required for pre-industrialised construction systems. Examples include the elliptical oak curtain wall at Bodegas Faustino in Oión and the radiata pine curtain wall at the KNEM Building in Barcelona, which combines walkways with an outer aluminium double skin.

Beyond the Technical Sessions, Egurtek 2026 will include the Congress, Exhibition Area, Egurtek Awards ceremony, Innovation Workshops and networking activities. For the first time, the forum will also host WORKinn, a space connecting companies and professionals across the forestry-timber and building sectors. On 29 October from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., participating companies will present vacancies, recruitment processes, in-demand profiles and the skills expected to be needed in the coming years. The programme is organised by Bilbao Exhibition Centre with support from the Basque Government’s Department of Food, Rural Development, Agriculture and Fisheries and sector partners including Baskegur, the Basque-Navarre Official Association of Architects, the Bilbao School of Engineering/University of the Basque Country, Infoedita and Tecnalia.

The strongest signal came from international participation: 16,657 overseas visitors attended the fair, an impressive 40.29% increase year on year. More than simply an attendance figure, this growth reflects the strengthening relationship between China’s home furnishing industry and global markets, reinforcing CIFF Shanghai as a strategic meeting point for design, manufacturing and international business.

Design, Intelligence and Sustainability

Developed around the theme “Design · Intelligence · Sustainability”, CIFF Shanghai 2026 offered a comprehensive perspective on an industry undergoing rapid transformation.

Innovation was visible throughout the exhibition. Among the 1,400+ participating brands, 360 presented their annual new products, while the Design Hall recorded a new-product debut rate of over 90%, highlighting the growing focus on original design, product development and evolving lifestyles.

Design was one of the defining elements of this edition. A total of 17 special curated exhibitions explored contemporary living, workplace, technology and wellbeing, with design-focused projects accounting for more than 60% of the programme.

Projects including HOTLINE – Joint Exhibition of Design Creators, “Vision” Contemporary Design Living Exhibition, Design Gravity, East Design Show, Where the North Sits Down – RSM Nordic Collective Exhibition and Grand Tea Gala brought together different perspectives on original design and emerging aesthetics. Other initiatives explored the evolution of workplaces, wellness, smart technologies and robotics, demonstrating how products are increasingly becoming part of broader environments and experiences.

Within this international design landscape, The Italian Lounge offered a dedicated experience of Italian design and lifestyle, creating a welcoming environment for international guests while encouraging dialogue, networking and connections between Italian brands and the Chinese and international design communities.

Ideas, knowledge and new opportunities

CIFF Shanghai once again proved to be much more than a product showcase. During the four days, 32 events brought together designers, entrepreneurs, market experts and industry professionals around international expansion, industry development, design and new business models.

Forums including the Home Brands Going Global Summit 2026 and the 2026 Overseas Expansion & Empowerment Summit for Interior Building Materials & Furniture addressed opportunities in international markets, while other events explored new retail, sleep and wellness, whole-home solutions, AI and intelligent manufacturing.
The dialogue also extended beyond the exhibition venue through Livewellwell Design Weekend, connecting design professionals and enthusiasts with Shanghai itself.

Connecting China with global markets

International business development emerged as another major theme of the 2026 edition.

For the first time, CIFF Shanghai launched the Global Home Furnishing Hub providing market consulting, buyer matchmaking and channel connections through a dedicated platform designed to support companies in their international expansion.

The new CIFF Furniture Going-Global Research Lab, together with MSC Consulting, also released the 2026 Furniture Overseas Development White Paper, providing insights and practical references for companies approaching international markets.

Dedicated overseas buyer matchmaking sessions created direct connections between international delegations and exhibitors across key export categories, while “Together” – CIFF Shanghai & CARBINE International Guest Night provided a more informal setting for international buyers and industry leaders to meet and develop new relationships.

Design and technology shaping the future

The Jinzao Awards further highlighted CIFF Shanghai’s commitment to original design and its commercial potential. The 2026 edition received 226 entries from 139 designers and 49 brands, with 9 projects awarded for curatorial design and 32 for product design.

Technology was equally present across the exhibition. Robotics, smart living solutions, digital retail platforms and intelligent manufacturing demonstrated how digital innovation is becoming increasingly integrated into the furniture value chain.

The Embodied-Intelligence Robot Experience Exhibition brought robotics into domestic environments, while the 2026 New Retail Conference explored the transformation of furniture retail. At CIFF Shanghai WMF International Woodworking Fair, intelligent production lines and automated technologies highlighted the continuing evolution of furniture manufacturing.

An increasingly global platform

The results of the 58th CIFF Shanghai reflect a dynamic industry increasingly driven by design, innovation and international connections.

With 1,400+ brands, 360 annual new-product launches, 17 curated exhibitions, 32 industry events and, above all, a 40.29% increase in overseas visitors, CIFF Shanghai continues to evolve beyond the traditional trade fair model, becoming an increasingly international platform where new ideas, products, markets and business opportunities converge.

From Hongqiao, Chinese furniture brands are increasingly looking towards the world, while international professionals are looking to Shanghai to discover new products, trends, partners and opportunities.

In their latest article, Konecranes explores how hydrogen serves as a complementary option where grid constraints or operational demands push battery technology to its limits. As zepp.solution’s CCO Jonas Brendelberger explains in the article, fitting the fuel cell system, hydrogen storage and power electronics within the tight space and weight constraints of heavy-duty port equipment is a major part of making hydrogen work in practice.

Zepp’s heavy-duty fuel cell systems are designed with exactly these requirements in mind: combining high power density with integrated thermal, electrical and safety systems in a compact package.

The Konecranes article takes a broader look at where hydrogen can complement battery-electric solutions and what the Hamburg deployment is already showing in live terminal operation.

At Kishorn Port on Scotland’s west coast, RJ McLeod is extending the dry dock and creating new laydown land, supported by more than 20 machines from Stevens Equipment Rental. The package on site includes Volvo A45 and A30 articulated haulers; Volvo EC550, EC400, and EC300 excavators; Volvo L180 wheel loaders; Caterpillar 352 excavators; and Caterpillar D7 and D6 dozers, matched to keep excavation, haulage, crushing, spreading, and compaction moving across a demanding remote site.

Originally developed in the 1970s for North Sea oil platform fabrication, Kishorn’s circular dry dock previously accommodated a 160 m-long vessel sitting 13.8 m below high tide level. The current scheme adds 100 m of usable length to the dry dock while reclaiming an adjacent tidal area to establish nine hectares of critical laydown land – infrastructure designed to service the growing offshore wind, decommissioning, and aquaculture sectors.

Tackling ancient sandstone at the face

Achieving the required depth and footprint meant relocating existing internal road networks before drilling and blasting more than 450,000 m³ of Torridonian sandstone. Recognised as one of the oldest and most abrasive rock formations in the world, the dense sandstone placed severe demands on both ground-engaging tools and haulage machinery.

The logistics are as important as the excavation. Rather than importing and exporting large volumes of material by road, RJ McLeod is processing, crushing, and reusing all excavated material on site. That approach supports the project’s sustainability objectives and limits road movements, but it also places a high and continuous workload on the mobile plant fleet.

To supply material for quayside protection, the site team intentionally designed a wide-spaced drilling and blasting pattern at the face. While this generated large, intact boulders suitable for use as rock armour, it also yielded material that required site-level segregation before further processing.

This is where machine selection becomes more than a hire decision. With abrasive sandstone coming off the face and multiple material streams moving around the site, the fleet has to work as a balanced system, with digging capacity, truck payload, loading capability, and dozer output all aligned to avoid bottlenecks.

Heavy excavators are positioned on blasted rock to load articulated haulers, while a hammer-equipped excavator breaks oversize sandstone for the mobile crusher. From there, wheel loaders and dozers help feed, place, and trim material as the dry dock and laydown areas take shape.

Given Kishorn’s remote west coast location, uptime planning extended beyond machine selection. SER kept key parts and fluids on site to support regular servicing, with an engineer based there for most weeks of the project to help cover maintenance requirements and respond quickly to any issues.

Kishorn signals a broader shift in earthmoving strategy

Beyond its engineering scale, Kishorn highlights an important shift taking place across the UK earthmoving sector: major projects are increasingly being planned around complete system output, machine matching, and total uptime rather than asset-by-asset rental costs.

“When projects reach this sort of scale, operational bottlenecks become visible immediately,” said Mark Need, sales manager for Scotland and the north of England at SER. “Productivity isn’t about an individual machine – it’s a system. If your excavator is waiting on haulers, or if a dozer can’t keep pace with incoming fill on the embankment, production drops instantly. Contractors are moving away from looking purely at weekly hire rates and are instead looking at how equipment choices protect the overall project schedule.”

That thinking shaped the specification of SER’s fleet at Kishorn. Larger Caterpillar D7 dozers were deployed alongside D6 units to increase spreading and trimming output on the laydown area, while 45-tonne articulated haulers were selected to maximise payload per cycle on longer internal movements. In a production-led operation, the gains are measured not only in individual machine performance but in the rhythm of the whole site.

High specification as a baseline

The project also reinforces how contractor expectations around machine specification have evolved. Features once treated as optional add-ons are now baseline prerequisites for major infrastructure works.

To counter the extreme abrasion of Torridonian sandstone, SER fitted its heavy excavator fleet with reinforced buckets supplied by HSM Buckets in Sunderland, backed by custom ground engaging tools (GET) to protect bucket lip integrity and eliminate unplanned face downtime.

“We understand the complexities of modern earthmoving and quarrying, and we’ve built our fleet around what contractors actually need on site day one,” Mark explained. “We have all our dozers, compactors, and excavators either fitted with, or ready for, 3D machine control to further boost site productivity. When it comes to safety, we equip almost all machines with 360° cameras and human-form detection systems as standard.”

With site works progressing on target, RJ McLeod – celebrating its 75th anniversary this year – is on track to complete the expanded dry dock infrastructure, returning to the very site the contractor originally helped construct five decades ago.

Alongside the BETON 2027 Ready Mixed Concrete Congress, the BETON 2027 Ready Mixed Concrete, Cement, Aggregate, Construction Technologies and Equipment Exhibition will provide a major platform for the ready-mixed concrete and related industries.

The exhibition will take place from December 1–4, 2027, in Halls 2, 4 and 8 of the Istanbul Expo Center. It will showcase the latest technological products, vehicles, machinery, equipment, services and other solutions for the construction, ready-mixed concrete, cement and aggregate industries.

The exhibition will feature a wide range of products and technologies, including concrete batching plants, aggregate crushing plants, construction machinery, trucks and tractor units, truck mixers, concrete pumps, formwork systems, cranes, construction chemicals, automation systems, tyres and fuel products, as well as industry-specific machinery and equipment. These products and solutions will be presented to ready-mixed concrete and aggregate producers, construction companies and other industry professionals.

Expected to attract thousands of industry professionals from Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East, the exhibition will bring together leading companies and industry stakeholders under one roof. It will provide a valuable meeting point for the construction industry, a key driver of economic activity, and key segments including ready-mixed concrete and aggregate.

Covering a total area of 18,000 square metres at the Istanbul Expo Center, BETON 2027 is supported by American Concrete Institute (ACI) Türkiye Chapter, the Concrete Sustainability Council (CSC), the European Ready Mixed Concrete Organization (ERMCO), the Association of Turkish Construction Material Producers (Türkiye İMSAD), the Turkish Employers’ Association of Construction Industries (İNTES), the Chamber of Civil Engineers (İMO), and the Building Inspection and Earthquake Engineering Association (YDDMD).

The exhibition is expected to host more than 195 exhibitor brands from related industries and attract more than 20,000 industry professionals, including 3,000 international visitors from Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East.

Dallas Market Center’s ArchLIGHT Summit is spotlighting a lineup of sessions and receptions from its 2026 show, returning September 15-16 with headline keynotes, panels, and receptions for the lighting, architecture, specification, and design communities.

This year’s show also runs alongside Dallas Design Week (September 15-17), the DALI Alliance’s North America Summit (September 16-17), and, for the first time, the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID)’s national GATHER: Catalyst conference (September 16-18), widening the pool of design and lighting professionals on campus that week.

ArchLIGHT Summit’s educational programming opens with keynote speaker Leni Schwendinger, the internationally recognized urban lighting authority behind the NightSeeing™ nighttime design initiative, whose lighting work for landmarks includes New York’s Port Authority Bus Terminal and Times Square. Schwendinger will deliver a keynote blending data, humor, and dazzling visuals to offer a bold new perspective on city life from dusk to dawn.

ArchLIGHT Summit’s recurring networking series, Sip n’ Connect, pairs cocktails and connections on Tuesday afternoon with coffee on Wednesday morning, giving attendees two relaxed chances to unwind and network between sessions.

Closing the educational programming will be Andrea Hartranft, FIALD, principal of Hartranft Lighting Studios and past president of the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD). A recipient of the 2026 EdisonReport Lifetime Achievement Award and previously named Lighting Designer of the Year, Hartranft will pose the question “What If?” in a closing keynote exploring what the future of lighting might look like.

The 2026 educational program includes seven HSW-accredited sessions addressing topics ranging from recommended lighting levels and color rendering to historic preservation, outdoor controls, selectable lighting, and human health and wellbeing.
