Omani developer to build first Rotana in Muscat

Sundus Investments Projects has announced that it has signed a deal with hotels group Rotana to develop a new four-star hotel at Airport Heights in Bousher, Muscat.

The company said that the hotel – to be known as the Sundus Rotana – would be built close to Muscat’s international airport and will complete in the first quarter of 2015.

The hotel will have 245 rooms spread across four floors. It will contain retail units at ground floor level selling fashion accessories and jewellery and will also have a ballroom, executive boardroom, seven conference rooms. restaurants, a spa, swimming pool and fitness centre.

Sundus said the project was one of a series of developments it plans to “significantly complement the hospitality landscape in the region”.

The company’s chairman Mohammed Mahfood Saad Al Ardhi said: “In a growing economy such as Oman, tourism is an emerging sector requiring huge investments.

“Rotana, as a brand, is synonymous with uncompromising world-class standards. This reflects the vision we share for Sundus Rotana – ensuring excellence, convenience and perfection in every detail.
